The timing isn't great. I really wanted to get this done earlier for the Kickstarter, but oh well.
Have I piqued your interest?
Please note: There's no UI to create them yet, so you can't create them now. The UI is the slow part.
You can play with what's there only by saving that level, you can't copy and paste to a new level.
* Added tile groups
* Added concealers
* Added moving platforms
* Added repulsor tile - wasn't sure on this one, it's a little buggy
* White, black, and gray are available as backgrounds
* Fixed lots of bugs
* I love the fun design and signs in the bug levels! Makes fixing bugs fun Well, relatively.
* The last build targeted Flash Player 11.0, this one targets Flash 11.3. I'm hoping it might help with the latency issues.

As a rule of thumb I don't preorder games but this time I couldn't resist (actually I didn't even try) so I got the game with future expansions. I expect to have a lot of fun with Jetpack 2 but I preordered it mainly because I wanted to thank You for an amazing time I had with the first Jetpack. Few years ago I had a very stressful time at my job and I had to work really hard so I could take some breaks for a few minutes only. And how to relief the stress in such a short time? Yup, by beating one or two levels of Jetpack! It really helped me a lot so once again - thank You! I know it sounds really fanboyish but I'm not ashamed of it Your game is a masterpiece I hope the sequel will be at least as good as the original!

We want to see the wildest levels you can come up with, using the new features of Jetpack 2! We added some new features late in the game, and we need some new levels that use the new features to show off unique & different ideas. Try not to make your levels too difficult.
Enter as many levels as you want, but all submissions must be in by midnight, June 22nd.
The theme of this contest is "Unconventional". We need attention-grabbing levels that really make Jetpack 2 stand out above a massive crowd of other games. Use your imagination and design a level with weird and unique concepts. Tile groups, and the new trigger switches are great for this. See the example level in the "Contest Submissions" folder.
The best level wins $50
2 runner ups win $25
All other levels we use win $5
* Use the special full editor release here. Save any levels you want to enter in the "Contest Submissions" folder.
* Levels should reflect any of the concepts: clever, imaginative, bizarre, mind bending
* Attractiveness counts! Levels can use any tileset or combination.
* By submitting a level for this contest, you agree that levels we choose become the exclusive property of Chaostorm for all purposes.
* We may award no prizes if there are no levels that meet our standards.
* Chaostorm has the final say in choosing the winning levels.

"Niche"... What the hell do they think *everything* on GOG is? (I say this as a long-time GOG customer).
Agreed, that is rather incongruous from GOG of all places... classic DOS games and their sequels is basically their business model. Oh well. Does it really constitute a "hardcore platformer"?
Anyway, I'm having fun with the game btw Don't seem to be able to get back to Thief 2, keep turning JP2 on and 'accidentally' playing for 2h instead. It's been a long while since I replayed a level of any game even once, let alone several times to get all of the goodies. Good stuff. That level where you have to fall onto the fuel from a height and make sure you pick up only one and loop back round to be able to get the Idol was a great puzzle, bit of a eureka moment when I worked it out.

For what I've put together, I need four volunteer designers to fill out the four rooms. Post if you think that sounds fun. Say which part you'd like to do, then steal a copy of the template and fill out your room.
Currently each room contains a bare-bones functional version of what the room should do (switches, fuel, etc). I'll post a better description when I'm not stuck on this tablet. Replace it filling all the space, and keep it fun! 😀

This thread is to consolidate any first impressions or any sort of review anyone wants to share.
I only played it for about an hour last night, but had no problems running it on 2 different systems I have here; one with XP and one witn Win7 (the download link was kind of hard to find though). Ran great on both. I played one level with the keyboard and then decided I needed Joy2Keyto properly enjoy it. Broke out my old Gravis Gamepad Pro and proceeded to knock down a few more levels, going back to try to retrieve the idols (frickin' hard! Don't change this please! I enjoy the challenge). So far, it's great. It's pretty much exactly what I wanted; a modern coat of paint on the old Jetpack that I bought 20 or so years ago.
The only thing I had any trouble with was the levels only selectively showing the part you're in made navigation tough, but I'll probably get used to this. I wouldn't say it's something that should be altered. All in all, great game! I love these old puzzle-platformers; Lode Runner (Here's a clone I wrote in Java a while back with penguins that shoot lasers out of their eyes ), Jetpack, Prince of Persia (especially the SNES version). Great fun!
Congrats on the release Adam!

I second the idea for at least an optional login. I don't mind the inability to share levels prompt so much but I take needing to login to play a game I paid for legitimately (outside the exception of level sharing, as has been replied to/addressed by Adam) to be tantamount to asking my parents if I can have the keys to the car for the night, and I find that despicable as an honest adult.

Good stuff. I ran the auto-captions through Google translate, but between the voice recognition and the translation, it was mostly unintelligible.
You were playing all retro levels. I hope you're enjoying the Infernal Maze too. Post again if you make any more.
i think i will do so, maybe i build even some levels and show them on video how i did them.
Edit: i tried myself to use subtitles in german and yea, google and subtitles (even IN german) are NOT good X´D i was laughing at a part where i said something like "the differance between lode runner and jetpack was your man can jump and using a jetpack" and google said something like "the differance between loaded war and jet pack was you can jump and using a ipad" X`D i had a good laugh.

it is, its very positive. I tell (mostly at the beginning) something how i played jetpack 1 in school with my friends and that "finally part 2 is out" X3 i also explained for retro fans how to compair the gameplay with Lode Runner and games like. Its nothing to special (the video) but i have a lot fun with the game. You did a great job with it so far and, again, i wish it comes out on steam. it sure would help your sells

It's about time. It's been so long that I have lost my memory. I don't recall being called User7287635; how weird.
Anyway, congratulations on getting the game released.
There is a name change option, but it can be tricky to find:
Someone else noted that you may have to log out then log in again for everything to work properly.

I spent so long trying to find that game I used to play at my grandfather's house with my sister, where you play as Father Christmas, with the Grecian Baths level, and the cool metallic sounds, and the INSANE level with the steel boulders and teleportation pads, and the harrowing scream when you died and disintegrated. I searched through all those random shareware compilation CDs from PC magazines and couldn't find it. And then at university must have somehow found out its name, and found a version of the xmas one online that didn't work, and gave up. And then came across this website, and the rather impressive trailer for a sequel, and the steam greenlight page saying it had been greenlit, and the GOG petition.
And then out of the blue I saw the e-mail today! Congrats! I've been resisting the Steam Summer Sale but I think I shall indulge here
